April 2nd of each year is "World Autism Awareness Day," a day dedicated to raising awareness for individuals with autism. The autism community is often referred to as "star children" due to their unique ways of thinking, socializing, and perceiving the world. They shine like stars in the night sky, emitting their own distinct light, yet they often remain somewhat distant from the world around them.

What is Autism?

Autism, also known as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by several key features:

1️⃣ Social Communication Challenges: Many individuals with autism have difficulty understanding or using non-verbal communication, such as eye contact, facial expressions, gestures, and more. They may struggle to engage in typical social interactions and have trouble understanding implicit social rules.

2️⃣ Narrow Interests: People with autism may display intense, focused interests in specific subjects, such as numbers, maps, or particular cartoon characters, and they often persistently focus on these interests.

3️⃣ Repetitive Behaviors: They may exhibit fixed behavior patterns, such as repeatedly arranging objects, following a set routine, or becoming distressed when there is a change in their environment.

4️⃣ Sensory Sensitivity: Many individuals with autism are particularly sensitive to light, sounds, smells, or touch. They may be bothered by sounds that others ignore, or they may immerse themselves in specific tactile experiences.

Autism is not a "disease"; it is a different way of neurodevelopment. Each person with autism has their own unique talents and traits. Some individuals with autism may require ongoing care, while others can live independently and even exhibit exceptional talents in areas like mathematics, music, and art.

However, despite their unique abilities and perspectives, individuals with autism still face challenges such as societal misunderstanding, communication difficulties, and adaptation to their environment. Therefore, we need more understanding, acceptance, and support to help them find their place in the world, be treated kindly, and respected.

In order to better serve the autism community and everyone who focuses on mental health, Starlight Path is officially launching its newly upgraded website today! This is not just a space for information exchange, but also a platform for companionship, support, exploration, and growth.

Highlights of the New Website:

Content Upgrade: We've added a wealth of psychological content to help everyone gain a deeper understanding of autism and other mental health topics.

New Visual Design: The website's design has been fully optimized, with a more sophisticated and aesthetically pleasing layout, enhancing both the reading and user experience. Take your time to explore and see what changes have been made!

Psychology Test Area:

We have introduced a series of easy-to-use psychological tests, including autism screening, depression self-assessment, anxiety self-assessment, and more. These tests consist of only 9-10 questions, making it convenient for everyone to quickly assess their mental state.

Friendly Reminder: These tests are for reference only and should not be considered a professional diagnosis. However, they can provide an initial psychological assessment. If you have any concerns about the results, it is recommended to consult a professional.

Multi-language support: the website supports English and Chinese switching, so that more people can use and get information.

Tree Hole Zone: An exclusive anonymous communication space, where you can speak freely and pour out your worries, or listen to other people's stories and keep each other company.

📢 We recommend accessing with an iPad or computer for a better browsing experience!
