PTSD Checklist, PCL-5
What is PTSD?
Before starting the following Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) self-assessment questionnaire, we would like you to have a basic understanding of PTSD. PTSD is a mental health condition that may occur after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. Its main characteristics include:
1.Re-experiencing the traumatic event: Involuntarily and repeatedly recalling the traumatic event or having nightmares related to it.
2.Avoidance behaviors: Deliberately avoiding places, activities, or people associated with the traumatic event, and refraining from discussing or thinking about the event.
3.Negative changes in cognition and mood: Developing negative views about oneself or others, feeling numb, detached, or having difficulty experiencing positive emotions.
4.Hyperarousal: Being easily startled, having trouble sleeping, feeling irritable, or having difficulty concentrating.
If you or someone you know is experiencing these symptoms, it is advisable to seek professional help. Mental health professionals can provide appropriate assessments and treatment plans to help you navigate through challenging times.
Important Note: The following self-assessment questionnaire is for reference purposes only and cannot replace professional diagnosis. If you have any concerns about the results or need further assistance, please consult a professional doctor or mental health expert.

Result Interpretation
0 - 11 Points: No Significant PTSD Symptoms
Your score indicates no significant PTSD symptoms following a traumatic experience, or only mild manifestations. These may be normal reactions in daily life and should not significantly affect your learning, work, or social abilities.
12 - 22 Points: Mild PTSD Symptoms Possible
Your score suggests that you may experience mild PTSD symptoms in certain situations, such as occasional flashbacks, avoidance behaviors, or hypervigilance, but these issues may not significantly impact your daily life. It is advisable to be aware of these symptoms and seek support or strategies to cope when necessary.
23 - 33 Points: Moderate PTSD Symptoms Possible
Your score indicates more pronounced PTSD symptoms that may affect your learning, work, or social abilities. You might find it challenging to control memories of the traumatic event or exhibit persistent avoidance and hypervigilance behaviors. It is recommended to communicate with family, friends, or colleagues to develop strategies to address these challenges, such as establishing structured schedules or seeking professional support.
34 - 45 Points: High Likelihood of PTSD Symptoms
Your score suggests a significant presence of PTSD symptoms that may severely impact your daily life, academic pursuits, or career development. You may experience persistent difficulties in managing trauma-related thoughts and behaviors, leading to emotional distress and functional impairment. It is strongly recommended to seek professional assistance, such as psychological counseling or behavioral therapy, to obtain personalized support and guidance.
Please note that this self-assessment is for reference only and does not replace a professional diagnosis. If you have concerns about the results or need further assistance, it is advisable to consult a qualified medical or mental health professional.
